Baroness Rothschild
('Baronne Adolphe de Rothschild') Hybrid Perpetual; Claude/Jean Pernet (père) 1868

Date Planted: May 2002 in 5 gallon pot
Source: Trade/cuttings
Exposure: Full sun

Introduced in 1868 and affectionately nicknamed for the wife of the 'Baronne Adolphe de Rothschild', this is the perfect rose for those who want straight 'florist rose' stems with enormous old-fashioned blooms. Disease resistance is very good for a Hybrid Perpetual; I don't spray and it does get some blackspot, but it isn't debilitated by it.

'Baroness Rothschild' grows stiffly upright, but is much shorter and more compact than most Hybrid Perpetuals. Light green foliage clothes the thorny stems right up to the base of the flowers. Zone 4 (with protection) and up.
