C. Shores-Wright : English Rose
When I discovered English roses I not only fell in love with them for their beauty and fragrance, I began to view roses in general in a new light.  No longer were they "those fussy, thorny things that old ladies grow" for I am not, nor ever will be, an "old lady"!

Technically considered Shrub roses, they were bred to marry the Old Garden Rose fragrance and bloom form to the remontant (reblooming) habit of most modern roses.  This wonderfully diverse group has led me to discover and appreciate Old Garden Roses as well as other classes of modern roses... and in the process, has forever changed the way I garden.

These roses can be as variable in performance as any other rose.  They come in a wide variety of shapes, sizes, bloom form and color, and what sulks in my garden may thrive in yours, in a different region.  Like all roses, there is a bit of trial and error involved, but I think that the quest for the right rose is a large part of the fun!

The following pages contain photos and details about David Austin and his rose breeding program, and the garden performance of the English roses I grow.  Some are new this year, and may not have pictures or info posted yet.  Check back, as I am working to remedy this ASAP.
