Goldie (MACarom)
Hybrid Tea; (seedling x 'Golden Gate'), McGredy, IV OBN, 1988 (New Zealand)

Date Planted:  3/29/99
Source:  Potted; TRS rummage sale
Exposure: Full  sun

I got this rose at the Tacoma Rose Society rummage sale.  It had been removed from the Point Defiance rose garden, and I rescued it at the end of the sale (it would have been thrown away.)  Belonging to the Rose Society has its perks!

According to the hybridizer Sam McGredy (personal correspondence) Goldie was "introduced by Sheridan Nurseries in Canada. The plant grows tall, a bit too tall. The blooms are full, somewhat flat and barely scrape into the HT class. It has a great fragrance."

I really do like this rose. The foliage is healthy and the blooms do smell wonderful. I'd hate to see it disappear entirely - it's worth saving. Thanks so much, Mr. McGredy!
