Mary Rose (Ausmary)
('Wife of Bath' x 'The Miller') Austin, 1983Date Planted: March 28, 1997 Source: J & P, local nursery Exposure: Filtered sun all day
Although in some respects quite humble by English Rose standards, Mary Rose is a terrific little rose. While the blooms are less elegant or fragrant than some other Austin's, this rose is almost
continuously in bloom. The shrub itself is remarkably attractive - very bushy, twiggy and spunky looking, with fantastic disease resistance. The blooms are a very pretty rose pink, and quite
charming in their casual, inviting way. This is an excellent landscape shrub. The American Rose Society rated this rose as "Excellent".
Fragrance: To my nose, Mary Rose has a lovely "Old Rose" fragrance... but I have to bury my nose in the blooms and sniff really hard to find it. the scent is much more pronounced in cooler weather. To see more photos, visit the Photo Gallery! Return to English Roses
