Mme. Alfred Carriere (carryAIRa) Noisette, Schwartz, 1879
Date Planted: Summer 2001 Source: rooted cutting, rose trade Exposure: Full sun, a.m. to early p.m.
The blooms of 'Mme. Alfred Carrière' are large and cupped, with waved petals arranged in a loose and casual manner. Their substance and color - white with a faint pink blush upon the
central petals - are delicate and porcelain-like. There is a powerful scent, sweet yet spicy. Her canes are slender, light green, and nearly thornless. This rose is a vigorous, tall-growing climber which
can stretch 15 or 20 ft. along its support. The foliage is pale green and drooping, 'Mme. Alfred Carrière' is reputed to be susceptible to powdery mildew but not
blackspot. Because it is considered unusually hardy for a Noisette and is relatively tolerant of filtered shade, it should be a very versatile rose. I have planted mine to grow
up the other Golden Chain tree in front of my house. To see more photos, visit the Photo Gallery! Return to Noisette Roses |
