Mme. Antoine Mari
Tea; A. Mari, 1901

Date Planted: Spring 2002
Source: Trade

I've wanted this rose for a long time and was tickled pink to finally aquire it as a rooted cutting. I nursed it in a pot over the winter and planted it in the ground in the spring of 2002. It didn't do much until 2003, when it opened several absolutely stunning blooms... that looked nothing at all like photos I'd seen. I was dismayed to think that, after all this time, I'd gotten a mislabelled rose, lovely as it is.

However, when it bloomed again this summer - lo and behold - it's Mme. Antoine Mari after all! I don't know if this extreme bloom variation is typical of this rose, but both forms are absolutely gorgeous... and I'm a very happy camper, indeed.
