Monsieur Tillier Tea; Bernaix, 1891
Date Planted: April 2001 Source: Plant trade Exposure Full sun all day
The very fragrant flowers of Monsieur Tillier are a unique purplish-pink shaded brick red, the center salmon pink,
quartered with quilled petals that darken with age, making a visually interesting display. Like most Teas, the growth is dense and twiggy, yet lightly built, and the blooms dance at the end
of very delicate-looking stems. The blooms are suprisingly heavy-looking for the the size of the stems, yet 'Mons. Tillier' isn't nearly as prone to nodding as many Tea roses.
Like most Tea roses (own root roses in general), this rose does take a few years in the ground to get established. It has grown and bloomed remarkably well, and has shown
no noteworthy disease so far. I am really impressed with this one. Click for enlarged images
