C. Loumand: The Rose Bush The term "Shrub Rose" is a catch-all category for roses of blended ancestry that are particularly suited for landscape applications.  Generally requiring relatively little in the way of care, these are relatively goof-proof bloom factories.  Naturally, all Shrub roses are not suited to all climates - again, some detective work and trial-and-error are required to find just the right one to meet your individual requirements.

I am including a few roses that aren't technically considered Shrub Roses, but fit in terms of performance in the landscape.  The Fairy, Seafoam and Weeping China Doll are actually Polyanthas, while Ballerina and Penelope are Hybrid Musk roses.

The Shrub roses (including the English Roses, which I have given a seperate section) are some of my favorites of all the roses.  The following pages contain images of the Shrub roses I grow and detail their performance for me, in my garden.

I have added a lot of new roses to my collection this year and do not have pictures and/or full details on some of them yet.  Please check back as this site will undergo many updates in the near future.
