Simplex
Miniature; Ralph Moore, 1961

Date Planted: Summer 2001
Source: Uncommon Rose

This 1961 introduction from the esteemed Ralph Moore is an absolute charmer! Apricot buds open to gleaming white, single, 1 inch blooms with golden stamens and a mild fresh fragrance. The plant grow to about 18" tall and wide, with a fairly upright growth habit. It blooms constantly all summer long, in large sprays. Disease resistance is excellent.

Like most minis, this is a good plant for container culture; however, I grow mine at the front of the border where the simple white blooms provide much needed contrast to the more elaborate flower forms and darker colors of antique roses.

Simplex is a very highly rated rose that deserves to be seen more often and is one of my personal favorites.
