The Nun ('The Prioress' x 'Seedling') Austin, 1987
Date Planted: April 2003 Source: Trade Exposure: Full sun all day
Though modest in character, as
befits its name, The Nun is a beautiful rose. Its flowers, a little more than medium sized, are almost pure white and deeply cupped in shape, with a bunch of golden stamens at the base and a good myrrh scent. Varieties
with this type of flower usually have a few small petals covering the stamens, but in this rose we usually have a completely clean cup. The growth is upright to
about 4' x 3' and rather open with slender and fairly large, somewhat sparse foliage. The blooms are nicely poised in large sprays and open in succession.Did you know?
'The Nun' is named after a character in Chaucer's "Canterbury Tales".
